we've been lazy lately. but not REALLY it just sort of seems that way for reasons varying from the good to the air-tight. anyway here's two PDFs to catch us up. It was a real pain in the ass trying to get the compression right on these fuckers for some reason.

oh and sorry/thank you to jolene dwyer for doing the cover for us and for us forgetting to thank her in the issue.

computers are frustrating

Especially when they crash and you lose all your files. Backups are handy. Frequent backups are a better idea. Due to forgetfulness on my behalf we lost all the source files and submissions from the December issue, but since that's already put together as a PDF and everything that's not overly important. There's a lesson in all this. In other news, RITSHAG is starting off the new year running the Ubuntu 9.10 distribution of Linux, and so far it's going super smoothly. The new issue won't be out January 1st, but it'll be available in the first week of January.

If you're in Brandon, be sure to head to the North Hill Inn this Tuesday night for live music, beer, and (you guessed it) zines. It's YD's last show EVER (again), and the other bands aren't terrible either, so don't miss it.

Thanks to everyone that came out for our last-minute fundraiser/record sale today! We raised just over $70!! There's no good way to accurately say how thankful we are, so we'll just try to make #9 a real good issue for all y'all.

In other news, Katy was apparently hoarding some copies of back issues that I thought were entirely out of print. We have at least two of each issue, some more, so if you're interested give us a shout at RITSHAG AT GMAIL DOT COM, we'll mail 'em to ya for $2 a piece. This is I guess how we'll be doing this now? The zines will be free the month they come out, $2 after that. Until we think of yet a better way of doing things. Yep.

I just realized this, since the print version and PDF version come from two separate sources, the PDF doesn't have the photo credits for the Broke Spokes interview. All photos but the first one appearing in that interview were taken by our good friend Dave van den Bossche.

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS

You may notice that the zine is kind of hard to read in PDF format, because it's set up to be printed. It's pretty simple, but for those who've never tried it before, here's how it's done.

STEP ONE:
Print the first page of the PDF (landscape, not portrait).

STEP TWO:
Take the page that the first page is printed onto, and put it back in the printer so that the next thing you print will be on the back of it (you know, so both sides will be right-side-up).

STEP THREE:
Print the second page of the PDF the same way as before.

STEP FOUR:
Repeat for the rest of the pages!
